COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Nonprofits will sponsor Pizza and a Movie Night on Feb. 17 from 5-8 p.m. at Woodland Community College for Yolo County residents to learn more about civic engagement.  The Davis Enterprise
  • The UC Davis Employee Giving Committee held two campus-wide supplies drives in October and Jan. 20 to 26 that collected over 2,340 lbs of food and toiletries for students, with donations set for distribution through the ASUCD Pantry + Aggie Compass Basic Needs Center.  UC Davis
  • Davis Odd Fellows Lodge’s monthly bingo game raised $868 for Yolo Food Bank, a nonprofit that recovers and distributes food to local families in need. The event took place Sunday.  The Davis Enterprise
  • Compassion Cafe in Davis aims to continue David Breaux's legacy by hosting community events and outreach. The local initiative honors his lifelong commitment (he devoted his life to raising kindness until his passing in 2023) and seeks to spark ongoing compassion.  The Davis Enterprise

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Connect Labs by Wexford announced new tenants joining Aggie Square plus strengthening its partnership with UC Davis to boost the active innovation district that opened in May 2025. The growing hub will soon host flagship programs and events to drive research, healthcare and startup work.  UC Davis
  • Gunrock Express launched in November to offer on-campus mailing and shipping services to UC Davis students, staff, and faculty. It is located behind the Scientific Store at 650 La Rue Road (open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. excluding UC Davis holidays).  UC Davis

CULTURE NEWS

  • UC Davis’ Gorman Museum is displaying award-winning artist Shelley Niro’s photographic and multimedia exhibit through Aug. 30, offering free admission and parking. Niro will hold an artist talk Saturday, Apr. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the museum (visitors are invited to learn about her work).  UC Davis
  • On Feb. 5, artist Raven Chacon gave a lecture at UC Davis hosted by The California Studio: Manetti Shrem Artist Residencies where he explained his art and musical works. He discussed pieces — such as ‘Field Recordings’ and ‘American Ledger No. 1’ — to show nature’s quiet and America’s history.  The California Aggie

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Yolo County jobseekers will attend an in-person job fair on Monday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Center (203 East 14th) in Davis, where employers plan to connect with candidates.  The Davis Enterprise

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Outdoor Adventures, part of Campus Recreation, is accepting group inquiries from UC Davis departments and campus affiliated groups for a range of low cost team-building activities. Options include day hikes, whitewater rafting for up to 42 people, indoor and outdoor rock climbing, and camping trips requiring a six-month lead time.  UC Davis
