- ➤ Davis Police Chief Todd Henry confirmed on Thursday that police are looking for more than one gunman in connection with Saturday's shooting at Community Park—he released a description of one suspect. The Davis Enterprise

- ➤ The all-female a cappella group The Spokes will perform tomorrow at the Mondavi Center for HellaCappella—an annual event featuring seven groups from the West Coast. They have practiced many times each week to prepare both their songs and dances. The California Aggie
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of California students have pushed for an ethnic studies course requirement for five years and say the current governance system does not let them participate fully — their group and faculty voices have sparked ongoing debates. The UC Assembly of the Academic Senate will vote on the Area A-G/H Ethnic Studies proposal on April 23, which, if approved, will revise high school admission rules. The California Aggie
- ➤ The UC Davis Botanical Conservatory — a campus gem with nearly 4,000 plant species including many endangered types — helps teach classes and gives students a calm spot to relax. - ➤ At its April 10 meeting, the ASUCD Senate confirmed three new vice controllers—Trinity Chow, Ashley Knauss and Zayd Musa—and an interim senator, Noblejot Singh, who replaced former Senator Asif Ahmed. The Senate also passed several amendments and bills including changes to interim officer appointments and funding for Environmental Action Week, and it approved a quarterly report from the Academic Affairs Commission while considering public comments on campus events. - ➤ At Tuesday night's Davis City Council meeting, Evan Schmidt of Valley Vision presented the We Prosper Together plan—a regional project to boost good jobs and support climate-friendly sectors that spotlighted Davis and UC Davis. Davis has not joined the coalition yet, and the Council will decide in May while a request for proposals releasing $4 million is expected today— adding more support for the region. Davis Vanguard
