ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Multiple firefighting units responded to a second-alarm structure fire that damaged a Davis High School classroom Monday afternoon — officials are assessing the damage and student safety.  The Davis Enterprise

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today at Cruess Hall Courtyard, the FADS Picnic Day Fashion Show ‘Laced in Reverie’ showcased student fashion designs with 15 single garment creations, a red dress collection for heart health awareness, and capstone projects blending Eastern and Western styles.   • Picnic Day celebrates ‘The Journey Home: Destination Davis’ as it brings together people who have experienced UC Davis in different ways. The event highlights pathways that connect past visits with the campus today.  The Davis Enterprise

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Division of Student Affairs opened the Student Parent Space in University House and Annex to support over 1,000 student parents with rooms for breastfeeding, meetings, and play (including a kitchenette). Marissa Weiss said the program will expand with events such as a graduation celebration on May 29.  UC Davis
  • Davis High’s band program will host its 34th Coconut Grove concert and fundraiser on Saturday, Apr. 25 at Great Bear Vineyards to raise funds for new band instruments.  The Davis Enterprise
  • UC Davis historian Andrés Reséndez, featured for his award-winning books including The Other Slavery and Conquering the Pacific, was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is now researching how trans-Pacific plant exchanges shaped trade routes — a project expected to take months.  UC Davis
  • UC Davis Bee Haven will sponsor two nature journaling classes called (Relaxed Mornings Among the Bees and Blooms) that invite residents to explore local nature and creativity, with sessions scheduled soon in Davis.  The Davis Enterprise
  • Tickets are on sale now for the inaugural Dinner in the Vineyard Fundraiser, which will benefit the Citrus Circuits high school robotics team and Davis Robotics Foundation in Davis. Event details such as date, time and location will be announced soon.  The Davis Enterprise
