- ➤ On March 6—7 the UC Davis Department of Chemistry held its Miller Symposium where students, teachers and well-known scientists such as Jennifer Doudna and Frances Arnold talked about new research on gene editing and enzyme work. - ➤ Graham Coop, a professor of evolution and ecology at UC Davis and director of the Center for Population Biology, was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences on April 23 for his notable work in evolutionary genetics—his research has helped clarify human ancestry and evolution. - ➤ The Editorial Board reported that the ASUCD spring 2025 elections were marked by a lack of clear information—multiple candidate disqualifications and technical issues led to conflicting vote counts posted on social media and the elections website. - ➤ Last week, the University of California Pavement Research Center repaved 1.1 miles of campus road near the University Airport using innovative pavement materials made from recycled tires.
