UCD researchers are partnering with Sacramento-based California Cultured to create lab-grown chocolate from plant cells for a more affordable and sustainable treat.

The project may introduce a new way of producing chocolate in our community.

Four Davis Youth Robotics teams competed at the VEX IQ World Championship, which took place April 28 to 30 at America’s Center, matching up with top teams from around the world.

UC Davis graduate student Sage Madden led a study tracking barn swallow chicks and found that early cold spells and later heat stress stunt growth — especially for smaller siblings.

The work shows how weather extremes and family dynamics impact chick development and future survival.
