- ➤ UC Davis will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony tomorrow to honor Gold Star Aggies who gave their lives in service. The Davis Enterprise
- ➤ Yolo Food Bank and Sacramento River Cats will launch a youth fundraising campaign on Monday, June 8 — engaging local kids to support vital services. The campaign will offer opportunities for residents to volunteer and donate to help the food bank. The Davis Enterprise

- ➤ The Davis Pride celebration kicks off with PrideFest on Saturday, June 6 (4–9 p.m.) at Civic Center Park behind City Hall as part of a monthlong series that also features a run/walk for equality and a comedy night on Friday, June 26 at Stonegate Country Club. Davis Vanguard

- ➤ UC Davis leaders met on May 15 to discuss key campus issues. Chancellor Gary May and officials described next steps to improve bike safety and Picnic Day measures, reviewed the equestrian team’s status with a full audit ongoing, and shared plans to boost enrollment and sustainability efforts. - ➤ Steve and Andrea Weiss (Davis residents) announced a new youth education initiative inspired by their experience driving their first child to college in a minivan loaded with household goods. The Davis Enterprise
- ➤ Pamela Ronald (a UC Davis distinguished professor) first found her passion for plant biology on a teen hiking trip near Lake Tahoe and later led research that helped millions of farmers develop rice that withstands floods. She now mentors students in new tech such as machine learning for plant science. UC Davis
- ➤ UC Davis celebrates Cori, a black Labrador retriever who retrieves football tees and baseball bats and helps the swim team by fetching pool toys — she also serves as a therapy dog during campus events to boost spirits. Her owner and staff praise her hard work. UC Davis
