- ➤ A 19-year-old man accused of the Davis Picnic Day shooting appeared in court on May 28 and had his bail kept at $45,000 with added conditions—he must allow personal and electronic searches for firearms and avoid known gang members—while facing charges for possessing a firearm, an assault weapon, and two extra gun-related felonies, with a follow-up hearing set for June 23. - ➤ At Yolo County Superior Court, testimony showed that Carlos Dominguez—charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and various enhancements—exhibited erratic behavior while forensic psychiatrist Dr. Stephen Weiner confirmed he suffers from schizophrenia. Davis Vanguard

- ➤ A study published in Ecosphere by University of California, Davis researchers found that many monarch butterflies in Bay Area gardens are breeding year-round on native and non-native milkweeds and remain separate from the migratory groups.
