- ➤ Carlos Reales Dominguez’s trial ended its fourth week on May 30 — where a Davis police sergeant and a forensic psychologist questioned details in a detective's report and noted signs of psychosis — and his defense challenged errors in his recorded statements as the trial will resume Monday with further witness testimony. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State Senator Dr. Aisha Wahab introduced 13 bills to ease California’s housing crisis with measures to stop digital discrimination, protect renters, and speed up rebuilding in disaster areas—two of which have already moved to the Assembly. - ➤ The Davis City Council is reviewing a biennial budget for fiscal years 2025–26 and 2026–27 that sets spending at $246.3 million and $253.2 million while showing a flat reserve of about $10 million—well below the target. City staff recommend approving the FY26 budget as proposed and plan to look for up to $3 million in savings to help cover future costs. Davis Vanguard
