🎓 Education
Robert D. Grey, a longtime university leader who shaped UC Davis through roles as provost and professor, died peacefully at 86 in May with his family nearby.
He was honored with the 2026 UC Davis Medal for his dedication to research and student success.
UC Davis announced $1.2M awards from the W.
M. Keck Foundation to support six early-career research projects in science, engineering + medicine. The funding will help teams conduct experiments, acquire materials and keep critical staff during a challenging funding period.

Researchers from UC Davis are developing AI tools to analyze digital brain tissue scans to improve dementia diagnosis and treatment.
The multi-year AggieBrain initiative is funded by the Susan and Charles Berghoff Foundation and brings together engineers and medical experts to build a comprehensive research resource.
