UC Davis Chancellor Gary S.
May appointed Jason K. Stewart as chief of staff after a national search, and Stewart will begin on Sept. 21 to guide academic and budget planning + community engagement across campus and UC Davis Health.
🏛️ Government
The Yolo County District Attorney’s Restorative Justice Partnership is accepting applications from residents to volunteer in its community justice program.
Interested citizens may apply to support local restorative initiatives.
🏥 Health
UC Davis scientists conducted a study with an epilepsy patient who carried GPS equipment to record his brain signals as he walked hallways to memorize image pairs.
The experiment (late March) led by Dr. Jack Lin aimed to better understand how the hippocampus guides navigation and may inform future treatments.
Professor Amanda Guyer from UC Davis discussed rising adolescent mental health challenges in a recent podcast, noting that social media and pandemic isolation are impacting local teens while research from the TEEN Lab and schools is guiding new interventions + encouraging open dialogue.

A new car-free housing project is under development downtown with homes painted in muted tans plus subtle complementary colors.
