UC Davis is boosting college readiness with summer programs for high school and transfer students, including an online session in November and an in-person program returning in 2026—these initiatives offer hands-on learning and career preparation to help students transition smoothly to university life.

The Davis City Council will vote on Tuesday, Aug.

19th on the contract for Daryel Dunston to become Davis's new city manager. The vote will set the stage for finalizing the city's leadership.

On July 2, UC President Michael Drake ordered all university entities and student governments to stop boycotting companies based on their ties to a country—he explained that these actions do not meet sound business practices amid federal probes into alleged antisemitism.

It remains unclear how this order will affect ASUCD’s boycott law passed in winter 2024 and the UC Davis Law Student Association’s status.

The Davis City Council will vote on August 19 to approve Daryel Dunston as the new City Manager, who will begin on September 15 with a base salary of $288,452.74—he brings nearly two decades of local government experience.

A group of Davis residents attended a feedback workshop on Wednesday to offer ideas for the city's upcoming General Plan—residents shared suggestions on key issues—and officials said they will review the input over the coming weeks.

On August 19, Davis City Council will meet to update the long-term plan by adding environmental justice and forming a new committee that unites six city commissions—this effort will guide policy on climate, housing, and public services over the next 20+ years.
