A Davis law firm client received part of a $47.3 million whistleblower settlement after allegations that Ensign Group Inc. engaged in improper conduct at its skilled nursing facilities—one of which is in Davis.

Yolo County is asking local organizations—especially nonprofits—to respond to a Request for Information for professional animal care services.

County officials plan to review proposals to improve animal care operations in the county.

A Davis developer filed a lawsuit on Sept 5 challenging DJUSD’s maximum school impact fee of $5.17 per square foot on the Palomino Place project—he claims the fee unfairly charges local homebuyers by funding schools for nonresident students and ignores enrollment declines.

The suit seeks to invalidate the fee by arguing that existing facilities can accommodate new students without the need for extra construction.
