- ➤ On Monday in Yolo County Superior Court, Judge Clara M. Levers granted pretrial release to an accused who broke court orders—she ordered random alcohol testing without requiring the costly SCRAM device after the prosecutor said he was a safety risk from returning to his parents’ home and the defense argued he could not pay the fees due to unemployment. - ➤ A Davis man arrested over four years ago pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy charge related to an international drug-trafficking investigation—authorities said he admitted involvement in both distributing and possessing controlled substances. The Davis Enterprise

- ➤ Two exhibitions at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art are on view through Nov. 29—'OJO' Julio César Morales examines the border between the US and Mexico and 'Breath(e): Toward Climate and Social Justice' highlights social and environmental injustice. A free public opening celebration for 'Breath(e)' is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. as the university year begins. UC Davis

- ➤ Student Affairs will open two new student centers this fall—the Lotus Mana Center on the Memorial Union's second floor and the MENASA Resource Center on the Student Community Center's second floor—to expand support and streamline operations.
