- ➤ A UC Davis student known as @happycatshrooms spray-painted pink cat icons on campus and was arrested by police—she now faces a misdemeanor charge and $32,000 in restitution due by May. The California Aggie

- ➤ Sunset Fest will take place tomorrow at UC Davis Health Stadium where headliner Blxst and supporting Lyn Lapid will perform in a free concert for enrolled students—entry requires showing an Aggie Card and pre-registration, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Attendees will have water provided and can use extended Unitrans services to get home safely. - ➤ Davis faculty played a role in the American Association of University Professors v Marco Rubio case this week in a Massachusetts federal court — Judge William G. Young ruled in favor of foreign students. The Davis Enterprise
- ➤ In late August, the UC Davis Botanical Conservatory joined an international contest where its 46-inch waterlily held 80 pounds but now risks closing because of upcoming university budget cuts — a threat to its role as a peaceful space for visitors. - ➤ On Sept. 16, Davis City Council and the Social Services Commission reviewed plans to keep the Davis Daytime Homeless Respite Center operating after Downtown Streets Team stops services on Oct. 31. Council members unanimously voted not to disrupt the services while they consider additional options+ ensure continuity of care. The California Aggie
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A new study from University of California, Davis shows that cells in the pancreas work together to stop blood sugar from dropping too low in people with diabetes—beta cells send signals through gap junctions that prompt delta cells to release somatostatin to slow insulin release. The research, published on Sept. 16, may lead to better treatments that prevent dangerous hypoglycemia. UC Davis

- ➤ The Aggies have not yet won a game this season—they drew at home against Saint Mary’s and lost other close contests despite many chances. - ➤ On Sept. 13, the UC Davis men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at River Oaks Golf Course in the Kim Duyst Twilight Cross Country Invitational, where the men’s team won with 54 points and the fastest overall time while the women finished fourth.
