EDUCATION NEWS

  • UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May has named Aisha Jackson as the university’s first chief information and digital strategy executive (CIDSE) and she will begin her two-year term on Dec. 1 to lead IT integration across campus. Jackson will guide the development of a unified governance framework to address growing cybersecurity and AI challenges.  UC Davis
  • DJUSD faces a projected loss of 1,000 students over the next decade and will hold three community outreach meetings starting November 3 to discuss two school closure plans—one that involves closing Patwin Elementary and a broader plan that also affects Birch Lane Elementary. Superintendent Matt Best said the meetings will help gather community feedback to shape final decisions for the district's future.  Davis Vanguard

HEALTH NEWS

  • A study from the University of California, Davis shows older couples who share happy moments have lower stress hormone levels that can reduce health risks—research analyzed daily saliva samples and self-reports from 321 couples to show both partners benefit. The study highlights that shared happiness in everyday life may help lower stress over time.  UC Davis

  • UC Davis football will offer free tickets to employees for tomorrow's game against Idaho State, and staff can claim two tickets with a promo code online.
