Good morning, Davis. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 7th of November.

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Davis Joint Unified School District board is facing a possible loss of 1,000 students over the next decade due to rising housing prices, falling birth rates and shifts in UC Davis workforce patterns—if both the Village Farms and Willow Grove developments are not approved, school closures and staff cuts may follow. The board will hold community feedback meetings and weigh two plans that could shift programs or close up to three schools, with votes set for June and November.  Davis Vanguard

  • Hands on the Land, a UC Davis student-led initiative, organizes free trips for students and community members to visit local UC Reserves—McLaughlin and Stebbins Cold Canyon—for habitat restoration. The program plans recurring trips nearly every month during the school year with events scheduled for November and early 2026.  The California Aggie
